About the Opportunity

Support, trouble-shoot, and develop processes utilizing computer aided manufacturing (CAM) software and digital technologies in the fabrication, alteration, and repair of crowns & bridges, abutments and removable restoration dental prosthetics. Works closely with other CAD/CAM specialists, manufacturing operators, support functions and customers like dentists, orthodontists, and dental laboratory technicians.

In this role, the successful candidate will:
  • Works with production team to meet daily customer demand and production schedules while maintaining the highest quality standards at all times.
  • Develops workflows, programs, and tools to improve quality of product and productivity.
  • Follows and contribute to company protocols on trouble-shoot, analyzing, and implementing improvements.
  • Works closely with other Engineers, Technicians, Manufacturing Operators and Suppliers/Partners to achieve results.
  • Follows quality standard product design and manufacturing protocols, and identify and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Inspects equipment and materials to identify any errors, problems, or defects and identify the root cause.
  • Contributes to innovative machining and fixture solutions, next generation equipment selection, as well as stay up-to-date with technology changes and industry knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of Digital Dental Manufacturing workflow including IOS, 3D Printing (Additive mfg.) and Milling (Subtractive mfg.).
  • Fluent in CNC milling strategies using CAM software like DentMill, Millbox, and/or Hyperdent.
  • Understanding designing tools and a good understanding of tooling best practices in milling operation.
  • Records test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test methods.
  • Reviews project instructions and specifications to identify, modify and plan requirements fabrication, assembly and testing.
  • Programs CNC milling operations for 3-axis and 5-axis mills to manufacture dental prosthetics.
  • Total familiarity with CNC machine operation, processes, best practices, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of CAM toolpath development for optimization of "feeds & speeds" for milling.
  • Able to use basic metrology tools (calipers, gauges, ect), read drawings and understanding of GD&T.
  • Provides feedback and gives advice to management and team on technical, systems and processes.
  • Interrupts and adheres to all company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What does it take to be successful?
  • Bachelor's Degree required (or other degree), or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 10-years of Dental CAD/CAM experience required.
  • 5-years' experience in a Dental Lab environment required.
  • 1 + year of experience in use of digital technologies and devices.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and quality focused.
  • Strong Microsoft Office software skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to incorporate feedback from multiple sources into visual designs.
  • Ability to adhere to all company policies.
  • Ability to travel 20%.
  • Ability to learn technical concepts by reading work instructions and standard operating procedures, and completing on-the-job training.
  • Knowledge of cGMP regulations ISO 13485, 21CFR Part 820, CMDR SOR/98-282, 93/42/EEC, RDC 16 2013, MHLW MO 169 and TG(MD)R Sch3 preferred.
