General Manager - Doyon/Aramark Joint Venture - Denali National Park

Job Description

The Doyon/Aramark General Manager will have responsibility and lead the teams for all revenue generating operations for Aramark Hospitality Management at Denali National Park Concessions Properties. This includes Transportation, F&B, facilities, and retail operations. The oversight includes the Denali Bus Depot, Riley Creek Mercantile, Campgrounds, Tundra Wilderness Tour, Denali Natural History Tour, Transit and Shuttle Systems, Documentation, and Bus Wash operations that fall under the National Park Services Concessions Contract.

Job Responsibilities

o Collaborate with the DM/VPO and Aramark leadership in the development of strategic and operational plans and own implementation and management of these plans.

o Collaborate with clients including National Park Service, Doyon Limited and Department of Transportation to understand all regulations and contractual agreements pertaining to Concessions Operations.
o Ensures compliance with NPS, Doyon and McNamara Service Contracts and Collective Bargaining Agreements.
o Monitor and communicates potential business risks including weather to ensure safe operations and adjust business operations as appropriate.
o Manages and owns financial P&L and capital budgets.
o Directs and manages procedures and methods to ensure that quality standards are met and maintained in all operations including Retail Inventories.
o Develop and lead a safe and secure culture focused on incident and injury prevention by implementing SAFE engagement activities through the Global Metrics Monitor system (GMM) by setting SAFE standards, educating the tools, monitoring metrics, and recognizing behaviors and achievements
o Develop and lead a compliance culture that mitigates financial and legal risk; focus on compliance standard operating procedures, integrity, environmental, and safety in the Cruise, Marina, Food and Beverage, Mechanics, and Bus and Snowmobile operations.
o Develop and maintain mutually beneficial business relationships with clients. Focus on retaining existing business and building base business.
o Evaluate performance results, develop and implement action plans to achieve performance goals, for direct reports.
o Hold employees accountable for completing position training, conduct follow up and assess training progress of new employees.
o Works directly with the DM/VPO, Transportation Director, Shop Manager and F&B Director to ensure we are consistently auditing our team and operation to ensure we are running the safest food operation possible.
o Participate and support the F&B Director to plan and implement menus as applicable.
o Participate and support Sales and Marketing initiatives of operations in partnership with Sales and Marketing team.
o Drive a culture of recognition and accountability by utilizing Aramark?s tools and participating in recognition and coaching activities.
o Participate in client facing events to include but not limited to site tours, site inspections, sales meetings, outside sales functions, community involvement groups, and various functions hosted by local community or hospitality related associations.
o Understand Transportation and work with the Transportation Director on scheduling to the business needs.
o Oversee various audits including, but not limited to, ISO 14001 Environmental, NPS Periodic Evaluations (twice per year), Federal Health Inspection, NPS Environmental Audit, and Inventory Audits.
o Perform other duties as assigned.
o Nonessential functions:
o Perform Manager on Duty (MOD) shifts if the need arises; ensuring the entire team is productive and meeting brand standards.
o Bachelor's degree in Business Management, hospitality, recreation, or related field.

Qualifications

? Basic computer proficiency
? A minimum of 5+ years? experience in a management position
? A minimum of 5+ years? experience with local, state, and federal laws and practices regarding compliance preferred
? A minimum of 5+ years? experience with local, state, and federal laws and practices regarding USFS Outfitter guide permit compliance preferred

? A minimum of 5+ years? experience in outfitter guide or related field. (USFS, NPS, USCG, ARAMARK or other corporate parks? component) preferred
? A strong value system, unquestioned integrity, and good listening skills
? The ability to manage in a diverse environment with focus on partner and guest services, entrepreneurship and building and growing a strong business
? Must be able to communicate effectively with client partners, guests and support staff and be able to respond effectively to changing demands
? Excellent communication skills
? Must be able to bring multiple departments together for a common goal
- Experience working in a union environment.

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
