Hardware Product Owner (HWPO)

Job Description

The Hardware Product Owner role in Aptiv has responsibility to ensure delivery of all Hardware facets of a customer project targeting maximum re-use of the HW architecture in the product design. This person will have matrix responsibility for multiple electrical, mechanical, and validation engineers, working with Aptiv direct-line resource managers. It is expected a HWPO will focus on a given product line component for a given customer project or several customers' projects depending upon component complexity. The HWPO will also serve as a core member of the platform HW architecture team.

Your role

  • First point of contact from hardware to the project teams and customer.
  • Own and lead escalation paths of all hardware deliverables and issues.
  • Create and manage achievement plan. Coordinate with Engineering Project Manager.
  • Drive KPI's to meet project targets targets.
  • Support application design deviations and lessons learned with the CPO platform team
  • Represent hardware in cross competency issues.
  • Serve as first point of contact from hardware department to the manufacturing team. Ensure the design is consistent with the manufacturing Bill Of Process (BOP) for the given manufacturing footprint. Resolve deviations as needed.
  • Serve as first point of contact to the purchasing team. Ensure supplier selection is consistent with platform approved sources. Make visible new supplier recommendations.
  • • Serve as first point of contact to the validation team. Ensure test planing, execution and issue management.
  • Ensure project lessons learned are reviewed across CPO platform projects.
  • Monitor resources to meet project budget and forecast
  • Monitor and guide on-time closure of design quality issues (PCRs, PORs, NPIs, customer) for verification, DV, PV; update/ close VFNs
  • Oversight project milestones
  • Maximize reuse platform
  • Oversight activities for new business pursuits as per assignment

Your background

  • Bachelor, Master or PhD degree in Engineering
  • Several years of professional experience in an international company, preferably in the automotive or electronics industry
  • Cross-functional engineering experience, able to cover EE, ME, and validation topics, while interfacing with Systems, SW, manufacturing, and purchasing
  • Lead by influence
  • Strong focus on interpersonal skills - willingness to develop
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to solve problems - creativity
  • Fluency in English
