Applications Engineer
Responsible for managing the Client's design information for interpretation and analysis, for the creation of the 2D product drawing and bills of materials, as well as the subsequent modification thereof derived from the Client's engineering changes, applying Aptiv standards as well as complying with the Client's specifications and requirements. Must ensure the quality of the 2D drawing of the product and any other information distributed to your internal and external Clients.
Must keep your Supervisor informed about the progress of your activities and any problems that may arise.
Must comply with the metrics established in the area.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and review customer design requirements (3D, drawing/plan, electronic information, etc.).
- Review and verify product drawings conform to Aptiv and Customer design standards.
- Work directly with technicians/designers to resolve design issues.
- Create and publish 2D drawings and bills of materials for customer information.
- Perform back-checks and issue error-free 2D drawings and BoM's.
- Maintain updated harness drawing/plan information, bills of materials, and product-related information.
- Request process validation and release requisitions (TCVR, splicing/sonic terminals, and sleeve sealing), additionally request component design and change requests (CR's).
- Enter new components into eTracker.
- Support construction events at Aptiv Manufacturing Plants and with the Client.
- Enterprise Operating System (EoS) support.
- Generate and release Engineering Permits: Standard and Mandatory - and error-free AV's.
- Support in the engineering change quotation process.
- Schedule meetings to communicate the details of the design changes with Operations (Methods, Quality, Process, etc.).
- Support during the testing stages in the improvements of software or systems of the area.
- Support the cost reduction initiatives of materials and labor (VAVE's and MI).
- Serve as the main contact (liaison) to address design problems between Operations/Client.
- Complete and monitor Application Engineering Metrics.
- Problem resolution analysis.
- Participate in meetings with Clients.
- Active participation in workshops related to the improvement of the design as requested with the Client/Aptiv
- Be responsible for the main families of harnesses.
- Responsible for the design of channels, grommets, special cables and multiples, etc.
- Responsible for assigned technicians.
- Manage different platforms and model years.
- Be a leader and participate in special projects.
- Participate in and support new business quotes.

Requirements:
- Advanced English level.
- Completed degree in Engineering or related field
- +3 years of experience in automotive harnesses.
- Experience in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, UG, CapH, Zuken, etc.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Experience in engineering and manufacturing change processes.
- Knowledge of key and basic quality tools.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and effectively perform multiple conflicting tasks.
- Ability to make intelligent and timely decisions to solve problems independently.
- Good communication skills.
- Demonstrate ability to work independently and in a team environment.
