Position Summary

Applied Materials is seeking a seasoned Senior Electrical Engineer to engage below two categories.

1. Architect the computation & network for real-time image processing. Define physical GPU/CPU & server & network and Linux configurations.

2. work on FPGA development of signal processing & communication & real-time control in next-generation semiconductor inspection tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and prototype real-time image processing pipelines leveraging both software algorithms and dedicated hardware (GPU/CPU servers, FPGA).
  • Responsible for HW & FW design related to FPGA in signal processing & interconnection & high-volume low latency data transfer and real-time control.
  • Develop and optimize hardware-based computation solutions-selecting GPU quanta, server architectures, accelerator cards-to maximize throughput and minimize cost.
  • Lead the creation of comprehensive roadmaps in partnership with software and hardware departments, forecasting technology trends, capacity planning, and budget requirements.
  • Engage directly with suppliers to specify, test, and validate low-cost, high-efficacy computation hardware solution tailored to our image processing workloads.
  • Establish and maintain technical scorecards for hardware/software benchmarks: TFLOPS, Latency, Memory Bandwidth, Architecture efficiency, power efficiency, and total cost of ownership (TCO).
  • Produce detailed documentation capturing market trends on GPU & Server & Network & emerging compute architectures and their impact on future system designs.

Required Qualifications

  • Master or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering or closely related field.
  • 10+ years of industry experience in hardware-software co-design for high-performance computation application in real-time image processing.
  • Deep understanding of GPU server architectures (CUDA/ ROCm accelerators), multi-core CPU topologies, and hardware interconnects (NVLink, PCIe, InfiniBand).
  • Strong FPGA (Verilog or VHDL) and Python skills, with hands-on experience profiling code on physical hardware.
  • Deep understanding of Linux, ConnectX NICs, Network switch.
  • Proven track record working with OEMs and component suppliers to source and validate computation & network hardware at scale.
  • Demonstrated ability to craft multi-year technical roadmaps and translate market/technology research into actionable hardware/software strategies.
  • Exceptional documentation and communication skills-capable of conveying complex hardware trends and system designs to engineering and executive audiences.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • GPU, CPU, Server, High-bandwidth Interconnection, networks.
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) for hardware-accelerated workloads.
  • Familiarity with FPGA application in embedded system.

U.S. Salary Range:
$147,000.00 - $202,500.00

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
