Key Responsibilities:

  • This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Employment Law attorney to join our dynamic team and navigate the evolving regulatory landscape of the semiconductor industry. The Employment Law Counsel will serve as a leader in the region, handling all employment law-related matters in India. The Employment Law Counsel will assess business requirements and provide strategic, practical, and legal business advice to India Leadership Team, HR, and the business on a broad range of employment law issues, based on regional laws and organizational policies.
  • The successful candidate should possess in-depth knowledge of Indian employment laws, industry best practices, and internal/external business issues. The role requires expertise and thought leadership in critical areas of Indian employment law, including hiring, terminations, performance management, employee relations investigations, discrimination and harassment, retirement, executive separations, leaves of absence, worker classification, accommodations, employee mobility, and policy and training development and implementation. The ability to work independently with minimal guidance and collaborate effectively within the Applied Legal & Compliance Organization is essential. Additionally, this role will:
  • Provide strategic legal and practical business advice on a variety of employment-related issues to the HR organization and business management. Prepare or review employment, labor, or HR-related agreements/documents. Manage or represent the company in local labor or employment litigation, arbitration, negotiations, or other disputes. Coordinate with external counsel on labor, employment, or compliance issues. Create and conduct training on employment law matters. Lead and assist regional business units in creating and revising company policies, procedures, programs, and best practices. Lead regional projects with cross-functional teams. Stay updated on developments in India to help drive potential changes to policy and practice. Act as a mentor and role model to others within the organization.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master's / Bachelor's Degree in Laws (LL.M. / LL.B.) from a reputed Indian institute.
  • 6 - 8 years of work experience in multinational law firms, top Indian law firms, or in-house legal departments of multinational corporations in the High-Tech industry.
  • Broad and comprehensive understanding of, and passion for, employment law.
  • Highest degree of personal and professional integrity and ethics.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of autonomy when making decisions that impact the business and/or its deliverables.
  • Enthusiastic, confident, and calm under pressure, with the ability to work independently and manage and prioritize a diverse and complex workload in a dynamic, fast-changing environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good judgment, strong analytical skills, flexibility and pragmatism.
  • Collaborative by nature and able to build strong partnerships.
  • Ability to influence beyond authority in a complex and matrixed organization.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the semiconductor industry
