Voice Control Engineer

Apple's Accessibility team is looking for a motivated Software Engineer to help develop and enhance features that make Apple's platforms more useable for those with motor challenges. In our dynamic group, you'll have the rare and rewarding opportunity to help craft products that improve and enhance the lives of our customers. The successful candidate will be able to quickly and deftly analyze and address accessibility issues across Apple's platforms. This includes ensuring that system components and apps correctly implement accessibility APIs, implementing new accessibility related features and working closely with quality assurance teams to design great experiences. Critical thinking and the ability to innovate are requirements for this position, however no prior experience with accessibility software is required. You'll join a focused team, but also work closely with the larger Accessibility organization at Apple. You will frequently interact with many groups at Apple to deliver ground breaking features. Description

As an engineer on the Voice Control team, you'll help design and build Voice Control features to improv access to users with disabilities. You will: • Contribute to the design, implementation, and testing of new features in Voice Control (with opportunities to learn Objective-C, C++, and Swift) • Participate in API reviews, write sample code, and improve developer documentation • Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including Audio teams across platforms, AppKit and UIKit engineers, developer tools, designers, and technical writers • Engage in code reviews and team discussions, learning best practices in framework development, performance, and reliability • Have access to mentors and teammates who value teaching, thoughtful design, and building great developer tools. Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficient writing robust, stable, well-tested code in Swift, Objective-C, or C++ (from coursework, projects, internships, or research)
  • Experienced with application development, UI frameworks, or platform concepts (class projects or personal apps are great)
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate and explain technical ideas, combined with a growth mindset that drives eagerness to learn, seek feedback, and iterate.
  • B.S. in Computer Science

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to learn quickly and grapple with complex, critical code
  • Upbeat, adaptable, and results-oriented attitude
  • Aptitude for independently learning new technologies
  • Passion for quality and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excitement to build software that makes a tangible difference in peoples' lives!
  • Experience with Apple Accessibility APIs and/or Accessibility technologies
  • Knowledge of Apple framework technologies

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $126,800 and $190,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
