Vision Pro Module Engineer

The Vision Display Module team is searching for a highly motivated candidate to drive innovative module design, development and validation for new display products. This candidate will be working with Apple internal cross functional teams, and lens/display vendors, managing all engineering activities (including design review, qualification plan, data review, failure analysis), and necessary to deliver the lens module in Apple Vision products. Additionally, a successful candidate needs to be collaborating closely with optical and mechanical technology leads to achieve robust lens module design, conduct tolerance analysis and design for manufacturing and reliability.

Description

You will be responsible for the following: - Support development of overall display module specifications and architecture down section validation - Define module build goals, build configs and matrix with XFN teams to acquire module learnings - Assess, create and develop the best solutions to characterize & measure the performance of our modules. - Create CTQ metrics and ERS for internal teams and vendors - Travel to support build and verification at component, module, and system factories during critical new product introduction phases - Identify module failure modes and root causes; drive teams to develop mitigation methods

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field and 3 or more years of related experience
  • Experience with development and mass production of optical system for consumer electronics
  • Experience with display/optics/optical system design

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field and 3 or more years of relevant experience
  • Experience in full engineering build cycles of optics/display related products
  • Familiarity with optical modeling tools (Light Tools, Zemax, etc)
  • Demonstrated ability to drive & meet key project targets
  • Experience in reliability testing and RC / FACA methodology
  • Knowledge of industry standards for testing displays and optical systems
  • Experience with data analysis tools (JMP, MATLAB etc)
  • Experience with geometrical optics, diffractive optics and micro display technologies
  • Flexible and collaborative, willing to work in fast paced product and technology development
  • Ability to develop and execute cohesive strategies to understand difficult systematic problems, perform root cause analysis and develop mitigation strategies
  • Strong communication and cross-functional teamwork skills
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
