Imagine what you can do here. Apple is a place where extraordinary people gather to do their lives best work. Together we create products and experiences people once couldn't have imagined, and now, can't imagine living without. It's the diversity of those people and their ideas that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do.
Description
APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Design enclosure components, antenna components, and flexible printed circuits (FPC) from concept to high-volume mass production with high reliability, functionality, and cosmetic requirements. Create novel part designs utilizing knowledge and experience of engineering, materials, and manufacturing fundamentals, incorporating both DFM and DFA principles. Implement designs in 3D CAD software (Siemens NX) to communicate design intent in 3D parts/assemblies and 2D drawings. Collaborate with Industrial Design to architect new products and develop mechanically robust designs and processes. Establish mass-production requirements to enable high yields within challenging ID constraints. Determine appropriate material selection for metal, plastic, and brittle components. Optimize design and material for reliability, manufacturing, cost, and compatibility with surrounding components. Collaborate with material experts and industry experts to identify, test, and validate new materials. Determine appropriate part manufacturing methods using DFM/DFA principles to create mass-producible components. Utilize knowledge of material and manufacturing best practices (injection molding, stamping, CNC, MIM, etc.). Collaborate with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) specialists to define and execute simulations to help create structurally and functionally robust components. Create test and validation plans to characterize design performance based on engineering judgment and identification of potential failure modes. Conduct failure analysis on components and assemblies. Identify and correct such failure points using metrology (OMM/CMM, CT scan, etc.), analysis, design knowledge, material selection, mechanical engineering principles, test/validation data, and/or FEA. Generate 2D drawings with appropriate specifications as determined by tolerance analyses, reliability testing, and metrology methodology. Utilize statistical analysis tools (i.e., JMP) to analyze datasets from mass production. International Travel Required: 20%. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 - $264,200/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
