Stage Carpenter (Rigging & Automation Specialist)

The Worldwide Events team is seeking a highly skilled Stage Carpenter with deep expertise in theatrical rigging and automation systems. This role is central to the safe, efficient, and innovative execution of scenic and technical elements for live events and filmed productions. The Stage Carpenter will support load-ins, setups, rehearsals, and live/filmed events, while also supervising supplemental carpentry crews.

Responsibilities
- CARPENTRY:
- Fabricate, assemble, and maintain stage scenery, platforms, and scenic elements using wood, metal, and composite materials.
- Interpret technical drawings, plans, and design concepts to execute setups with accuracy and efficiency.
- Build and install scenic elements including flooring, furniture, props, and structural components.
- Ensure all scenic work meets safety standards, production requirements, and Apple's aesthetic standards.
- RIGGING & AUTOMATION
- Design, install, and maintain stage rigging systems for scenery, drapery, lighting, video, and audio.
- Perform load calculations, select appropriate hardware, and ensure compliance with industry standards (ETCP a plus).
- Inspect, maintain, and repair rigging equipment to guarantee reliability and safety.
- Program and operate stage automation systems (e.g., motorized winches, lifts, turntables, tracking systems).
- Troubleshoot and maintain automation systems during rehearsals and events.
- Collaborate with designers and engineers to integrate automation into productions safely and seamlessly.
- COLLABORATION & OPERATIONS
- Partner with lighting, audio, video, and production teams to align technical elements.
- Supervise and train stage crew, over-hire carpenters, and rigging staff as needed.
- Participate in all production phases load-ins, changeovers, rehearsals, live events, and strikes, with efficiency and precision.

Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years in stage carpentry and rigging, with proven expertise in rigging and automation.
- Touring, corporate events, or theatrical production experience.
- Mastery of theatrical rigging practices, equipment, and safety standards (ETCP certification highly desirable).
- Familiarity with automation systems such as Stage Technologies, Creative Conners, or similar.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of CAD drafting/Vectorworks.
- Familiarity with OSHA and ANSI safety standards.
- Experience across theater, film, and live event environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, clear communication, and adaptability under pressure.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights, and operate safely in fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency with carpentry tools, fabrication methods, and metalworking.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $146,800 and $221,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
