Apple's AML team is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join the team building AI and ML models and applications serving an inference platform. To support Apple scale we work with tens of terabytes of data and thousands of concurrent requests. As a Sr SDET, you will get exposure to the intersection of software engineering, quality engineering, ML and AI, MLOps, and cloud-native development.

  • Significant software engineering experience focused on distributed systems, back-end services, data pipelines, or ML systems
  • Multiple years as an SDET writing test, build, and deployment automation
  • Expert knowledge of at least one compiled (e.g. Java/Scala, C/C++, etc) and one scripting (e.g. Python, JS/TS, etc) language.
  • Extensive experience developing different types of tests: unit, functional, integration, performance, end-to-end, data consistency, etc as a part of the main code base working side by side with software engineers using common testing tools and frameworks (e.g. Gatling, JUnit, Selenium, etc)
  • Hands-on experience testing different kinds of software components, e.g. UI (web or iOS), APIs, data pipelines, ML models, etc.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with NoSQL (e.g. Mongo, Cassandra), Kafka, search engines (e.g. Solr, Elastic), cache (e.g. Redis, Memcached), and other data sources. Ability to write complex SQL and NoSQL queries
  • Solid understanding and experience with CI/CD pipelines and test automation role in them; monitoring, alerting, and production logs debugging. Ability to do production issues debugging using logs (e.g. Splunk), monitoring metrics (e.g. Prometheus), data sources, and knowledge of the application business logic
  • Good sense of ownership and being personally accountable and responsible for the project quality, collaboration skills, system thinking, and ability to clearly explain complex concepts

Description

In this role, you will apply all of your knowledge, experience, talent, and creativity to help us build the next generation of our platform, and ensure its quality and reliability. You will be the owner of our platform readiness and the gatekeeper of the go-live decisions making sure our test automation, build, and deployment are fully ready for our platform customers. You will be working very closely with the development team, participating and contributing to the roadmap, design, and implementation of the platform, and setting and enforcing the quality bar for the team. Additionally, you will help shape the future and the roadmap of our platform, drive strong engineering excellence and culture, and see the effect of your work on Apple customers.

Education & Experience

BS/MS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, or a related field.

Pay & Benefits

    At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $170,700.00 and $300,200.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
