We are looking for an experienced/Senior OS Software Engineering Manager to lead a stellar team building the on-device, online Experimentation platform that empowers Apple engineers to deliver great user experiences. We are addressing key challenges to accelerate the adoption of ML across the OS stack, operating at the scale of 2+ billion devices. Our work is complex, challenging and highly visible. Lead a team of system-level OS engineers to envision and build the future of online experimentation.

Description

The mission for our organization is to measure, understand and proactively improve all Apple features. As part of the org, we are looking for an experienced engineering manager and technical leader to lead a team in building online experimentation systems for Apple's use internally, across all our operating systems. You will be responsible for on-device daemon & framework development. IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

  • Manage and grow the team that designs, develops and operates an online experimentation platform to enable on-device and device/server combined ML workflows. For example, build a service to rollout / rollback experiments to billions of devices in just few hours, build highly scalable data systems to process billions of events daily.
  • Develop and grow a strong team of senior systems engineers.
  • Set the vision, multi-year roadmap and execution plans for the platform in collaboration with senior cross-functional leaders across Apple.
  • Attract and develop talent, fostering a technical culture that encourages innovation and collaboration. This also includes nurturing technical leaders within AIML organization.
  • Drive engineering quality for the platform.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    • 5+ years of managing teams through organizational change and growth
    • Experience leading strategic technical projects with multiple stakeholders
    • Strong understanding of iOS, macOS fundamentals and frameworks
    • Experience with daemon and framework development
    • Proven ability to deliver world class, iOS/macOS production grade software
    • Highly technical, detail oriented, and willing to drive architecture and solutions
    • Experience with one or more of the following languages: Objective-C, Swift, C/C++, etc
    • Experience with shipping online Experimentation systems
    • Experience with independently networking, learning, and influencing cross-functional teams
    • B.S./M.S. in Computer Science or a related field

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with Machine Learning

    Pay & Benefits

    At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $219,300 and $329,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

    Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
