The CoreOS software team is looking for an extraordinarily dedicated software engineering manager to lead kernel development for Apple products. This team is responsible for the development of new kernel features on all products, as well as evolving our software for new ARM & Intel platforms to contribute to the success of the iPhone, iPad, and Mac product lines. CoreOS works with meany team across the company to provide a stable, fast, and high-quality foundation on which iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS frameworks and applications can be developed.

Leadership and management of a team of versatile kernel engineers in a fast-paced and demanding development environment. Ownership of kernel and other low-level software components. Creating and promoting a development environment that encourages innovation and sets high standards for quality and productivity. Identifying and mitigating risks in development activities. Strengthening the team by hiring and retaining diverse, top-flight engineering talent

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience leading a systems software development team
  • Direct experience with kernel or device driver development
  • Strong understanding of hardware design as it relates to operating systems
  • Passion to lead the development of ground-breaking embedded products
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of and/or experience with virtual memory or physical memory management
  • Cross-platform project development experience is a huge plus
  • Experience with macOS device drivers and IOKit a huge plus
  • Experience working with Linux/UNIX kernel and/or device drivers is very helpful
  • Consistent track record of successful and timely product delivery

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $190,700 and $329,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
