The Vision Products Group (VPG) is looking for a Software Engineer to help us push the limits of the next generation of interactive experiences on our platform. This team is working on Apple Immersive Video, a remarkable new entertainment format pioneered by Apple that puts users inside the action with 180-degree, three-dimensional 8K recordings captured with Spatial Audio. Key Qualifications
- At least 8 years of relevant industry experience with the following:
- Programming skills and knowledge of C/C++, Objective-C and/or Swift
- Understanding of media streaming technologies such as HLS and DASH
- Knowledge of video codecs such as MPEGs AVC, HEVC VCC or AV1
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Description
- Apple makes the newest technologies accessible to create amazing user experiences. You will have the opportunity to work in a team developing system level frameworks enabling these experiences, in close collaboration with creative teams across Apple and VPG. The candidate for this role will be comfortable working in a dynamic and creative environment. - Engineers are expected to work quickly and smartly to help determine the viability of ideas and technologies. You will need a deep understanding of how video codecs and pipelines deliver frames to playback and rendering systems. You must want to inovate and create new delivery and rendering techniques for Apple Immersive Video that will enable creatives to surprise and delight our users.
Education & Experience
- BS/MS in Computer Science OR equivalent degree OR equivalent experience
Additional Requirements
- Experience writing optimized code using e.g. profiling tools, assembly, SIMD, compute, etc
- Experience in at least one of the major graphics APIs (Metal, OpenGL, DirectX, Consoles, etc)
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $161,700.00 and $284,900.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
