Description
APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Research, design, and develop computer software or specialized utility programs. Analyze user needs and develop software solutions, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Implement framework code for new Metal features using C++ and Objective-C programming language. Design the specifications for new Metal API features to include description, implementation details, performance expectations and test plan. Communicate with driver teams across all Apple platforms to ensure compatibility and feasibility of proposed new Metal features. Communicate with tooling development teams to ensure developer debugging capability of new Metal features. Communicate with Compiler teams to ensure shading language compatibility of new Metal features. Develop necessary tests and infrastructure changes to validate correctness and performance of new Metal feature using C++ and Objective-C programming language. Maintain existing Frameworks software written in C, C++ and Objective-C and fix issues found in these frameworks regarding correctness or performance. Develop automated tests necessary to catch similar issues in the future. Brainstorm and communicate future features to improve graphics and compute capabilities and performance on all Apple platforms. Research new graphics rendering and scientific computation algorithms for graphics processing units (GPUs) and trends within industry and academia. Develop applications utilizing the new Metal API to showcase new features in real-world scenarios. Configure and improve internal framework testing infrastructure. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 - $214,500/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or related field and 1 year of experience in job offered or related occupation.
- 1 year of experience with each of the following skills is required:
- Using C, C++ and Objective-C programming languages to design and implement logic, algorithms, and programming interfaces (API) in software.
- Using C, C++ and Objective-C programming languages to implement and extend automated testing of software.
- Using HLSL, GLSL, MSL or equivalent shading language to implement graphics processing unit (GPU) programs for real-time 3D graphics rendering techniques or scientific computation techniques.
- Using DirectX, Vulkan, CUDA, OpenGL, Metal or equivalent graphics programming interfaces (API) to dispatch workloads onto graphics processing unit (GPU).
- Using PIX, RenderDoc, Xcode or equivalent graphics development tooling to characterize performance of graphics processing unit (GPU) workloads in order to debug and optimize GPU programs.
- Experience withcurrent real-time 3D graphics techniques and their expected performance and algorithmic complexity.
- Experience with massively parallel program execution model, found on all graphics processing unit (GPU).
