Description

APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Develop hardware-specific drivers and algorithms that allow the RTOS (real-time operating system) to function in Apple's SOC (system-on-chip) architecture. Design and develop BSP (board support package) framework software. Design and implement BSP/device drivers for modems. Perform modem software integration, trouble shooting and testing. Execute performance evaluation studies and define methodology to meet the performance budgets (MIPS, CPI, CPU load). Develop platform services and drivers responsible for platform initialization and boot of CPUs. Perform platform bring up activities (pre-silicon and silicon) including issue analyzing, bug fixing for all infrastructure components within BSP. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $172,931 - $214,500/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
  • 2 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:
  • Utilizing C and C++ to implement driver code that controls Hardware components
  • Applying knowledge in computer system to read and comprehend hardware specifications, data sheet and programming manual
  • Applying knowledge in operating system and multi-thread programming to design drivers for cellular protocols and hardware components
  • Applying Software testing methodology to design unit test for hardware component driver
  • Utilizing software debugger (gdb equivalent) to analyze and fix coding bugs and issues
  • Utilizing embedded system knowledge to break down and diagnose steps for system level issues
  • Review Hardware specifications to ensure requirements of Hardware architectures are met
  • Applying knowledge in cellular communication system (including SC-FDMA, OFDMA, AS, NAS) in component driver design
  • Utilizing knowledge in 3GPP standard to analyze and identify issues caused by system performance bottleneck
  • Utilizing 3GPP protocol sniffer and analyzer to identify problematic areas
