The Video Computer Vision org is a centralized applied research and engineering organization responsible for developing real-time on-device Computer Vision and Machine Perception technologies across Apple products. We balance research and product to deliver Apple quality, state-of-the-art experiences, innovating through the full stack, and partnering with HW, SW and ML teams to influence the sensor and silicon roadmap that brings our vision to life. Examples include FaceID, Animoji/Memoji, Scene Understanding, People Understanding and Positional Tracking (VIO/SLAM).

Description

In this role, you will lead a project with small team of QA and automation engineers, analyzing performances of complex Machine learning models and 3D computer vision systems on real world applications, building end-to-end pipeline and metrics for fast model evaluation, and understanding data / model biases. You will also work hand-in-hand with engineering teams from design phase all the way to software release in production hardware, create test plans and drive quality, lead technically deep, strategic and efficient test plan reviews as well as technical innovation within the team on test infrastructure and tools. Influence SW/FW design decisions through a strong test data driven approach that creates collaborative accountability for the dev teams. In this role you are expected be able to dive deep technically, look round corners, anticipate potential design gaps and build effective and efficient quality assurance test campaigns.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated ability to establish strong and effective working relationships with cross-functional teams
  • Analyzing performance of complex 3D computer vision systems in real-world applications.
  • Solid experience in test planning, performance testing, scalability/reliability testing, troubleshooting, debugging
  • Understands and practice a balanced approach to managing the team and the projects you are responsible for.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish strong and effective working relationships with cross-functional teams.
  • Solid experience in test planning, performance testing, scalability/reliability testing, troubleshooting, debugging for ML related applications and products
  • Collaborating with multiple algorithm teams to understand and analyze algorithm issues.
  • The candidate should demonstrate strong team leadership, as well as people and program management skills. This candidate has strong industry relationships/knowledge and uses that to be resourceful and problem solve things proactively.
  • This is a high judgment leader who can frame solutions with the long-term goals in mind, and balance short-term deliverables.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience
  • 2+ years of experience in QA management or technical leadership roles
  • Experience developing and implementing test automation pipelines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Bachelors degree with in Computer Science or equivalent experience with a focus on machine learning and computer vision.
  • 4+ years of experience in software quality assurance with consumer products through full product lifecycle
  • 4+ years experience working on consumer industry in development of software test handling full product life cycle
  • Experience in driving and developing automation pipeline
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; experience working with cross-functional organizations and external partners

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
