Description

APPLE INC has the following available in San Diego, California. Work on improving the cellular performance of iPhone and iPad products. Diagnose Protocol and System level issues from the carriers, screen through and debug issues reported from certification tests, and oversee IOT and field tests by doing in-depth log analysis using various tools. Work closely with internal development teams, radio stack vendors, certification and field test teams, and carrier support teams to fix issues related to data throughput, voice call performance and power consumption of cellular devices. Lead product features through the development life cycle from bring-up through acceptance to create a commercially viable product which can be launched. Drive continuous performance improvements by working closely with internal development team, radio stack vendor and other cross functional teams. Support log analysis and triage of Baseband issues by in-depth analysis of these issues, and reproduction in lab for debugging purposes. Analyze, debug and share key findings with various stakeholders. Develop advanced system evaluation platform and provide timely feedback to the design teams. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 - $204,000/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
• 1 year of experience with each of the following skills is required:
• Utilizing Wireless Systems Concepts including Channel modeling, equalization, MIMO, channel encoding, decoding, and channel estimation to increase performance improvement of wireless modem.
• Utilizing LTE and 5G Cellular Wireless Protocols and the various layers of the cellular protocol from physical layer to application layer to debug and solve issues.
• Developing Python based automation tools for large scale processing of device logs to generate relevant KPIs and triage issues.
• Utilizing 5G specification, standards and its implementation to perform log analysis of wireless modem issues and analyze and debug issues.
• Utilizing embedded systems for debugging software and hardware issues and improving performance.
• Performing tests and measurements in lab using various lab equipment including cellular test simulators, spectrum analyzers and network simulators.
• Working knowledge of embedded systems, real time embedded systems, and architecture trade offs of real time embedded systems.
• Using software programming concepts, object oriented programming and linear programming, and memory usage of latency of software programs.
• Using digital and wireless communication concepts relating to 4G and 5G communication protocols.
• Utilizing embedded communication systems, along with software and hardware, to handle project deliverables towards commercializing cutting edge wireless communication embedded systems.
