Description
APPLE INC has the following available in Culver City, California. Design and develop software for video editing and motion graphics systems. Responsible for handling engineering specification documents with task breakdown and scheduling estimates. Write code according to the specifications and submit code to quality assurance for testing with tools including Confluence, Xcode, Instruments, Radar and Slack. Write, optimize, and debug motion graphics effects software. Use code base (especially Helium, our low-level image rendering engine) to extend in-house rendering pipeline to create new effects. Use Xcode (including its compilers and debugger), Instruments, Radar, Artrace, and hgc (an in house proprietary tool used with Helium) to debug both new rendering code written for new effects and pre-existing code to fix pre-existing bugs. Attend meetings to collaborate with team members, share status, and present and solve problems. Submit code for review, and respond to review comments to either defend or make changes. Collaborate with Quality Assurance (QA) team to validate software and respond to bug reports with tools including Radar, WebEx, Confluence, Mail and Slack. Collaborate with Design and QA teams to design features, resolve bugs or issues, and work on the rendering pipeline using C++ and APIs such as Metal and OpenGL. Update tools and operating system versions as needed to streamline the workflows. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 - $204,000/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Graphics or related field.
- Experience and/or education must include:
- Writing and maintaining hardware accelerated rendering code using a GPU API such as OpenGL, Metal, or DirectX.
- Writing and maintaining fragment shaders for a GPU. Experience with at least one of GLSL, MSL, or HLSL.
- Using image processing algorithms to filter images (e.g., blurring or sharpening, changing brightness or contrast, applying lookup tables, transforming images (linear and nonlinear), etc.).
- Applying the principles of signal processing to write code to reduce or eliminate aliasing in rendered images.
- Using C++ programming to write and maintain code using language features such as classes and inheritance, member functions of all types, overloading and overriding, templates, move operations, and default member initializers.
- Using real-time programming techniques to write interactive, responsive applications.
- Using source control tools to manage source code, including checking out code, committing changes, creating branches, merging branches, and using tools that allow code reviews as part of this process.
- Applying engineering practices such as pair programming, code reviews, writing specifications, creating task breakdowns and scheduling estimates.
- Using an integrated development environment (IDE) to write and edit code, compile the code, and debug the code. We use Xcode, but experience with any modern, equivalent IDE is acceptable.
