Our wireless SOC organization is responsible for all aspects of wireless silicon development, taking care of challenges from the complex usages, more demanding performances and reliabilities to enable emerging wireless applications and products. Our goal is to come up with novel architectures and protocols, integrated systems and algorithms with employing the advanced technologies to introduce our innovative products, providing evolutions to our lives. In this technical role, you will be at the center of our silicon design and bring-up group, responsible for the wireless system design of our innovative wireless SoC products. You will take significant part in developing the next generations of wireless communication systems for enhanced performances and reliability, creating novel algorithms, protocols and architectures. You will participate in cross-functional task forces, comprising of RF/analog, HW, SW, platform designers and architects. This role contains wide responsibly on implementation, verification, validation and bring up our SoC products to the production quality, providing them to our customers!

Key Qualifications

  • Proven experience on designing and developing the physical layer core algorithms of wireless communication systems, such as: MIMO signal estimation and detection, channel estimation, equalization, coding theory, beamforming, timing recovery, frequency synchronization, automatic gain control, etc.
  • Track record with applying innovative techniques and knowledge in signal processing, communication theory and information theory, to resolve the challenging problems of the physical layer design (transmitter/receiver) for modern wireless communication systems.
  • Strong analytical capability to develop best-in-class solution in terms of performance, power, and area, for the challenging issues of physical layer design.
  • Extensive experience in algorithm development with hardware and firmware friendly design
  • Extensive experience in system performance optimization for congested applications and multi-radio coexistence environments
  • Knowledge in existing protocols: 5G/LTE/WCDMA/GSM, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be, 802.11ad/ay or Bluetooth/BLE

Description

In this role, core responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: • Design and simulate state-of-the-art wireless communication system for very high data rate, low latency and congested environment applications. • Implement system models and investigate innovative architecture, protocols and algorithms in PHY/MAC layers to mitigate the impact of congested radio environments and achieve the robust performance. • Work with cross-functional teams to bring up, characterize and optimize the silicon in lab. • Implement system models and investigate innovative algorithms for performance enhancements, design and validate them to allow performance sign-off and enable RTL development. • Define the control procedures of the physical layer hardware modules to achieve robust and optimal performance of the Modem in congested and multi-radio coexistence environment. • Work with digital designers to realize these methods with power and area efficient digital implementations. • Work with firmware designers to realize these methods with high efficiency software implementation, and possibly with hardware acceleration.

Education & Experience

BS and 10+ years of relevant experience required. MSEE/PhD preferred

    At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $161,700.00 and $284,900.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
