Description
As Senior Manager of Knowledge Management & Documentation, you'll lead technical writers creating professional documentation for complex systems while driving strategic improvements to knowledge management across Apple Services Engineering. You will lead documentation and knowledge management for Apple Services Engineering. As well as manage a team of technical writers while solving how thousands of engineers discover accurate, current information at enterprise scale.","responsibilities":"anage technical writers producing internal and external documentation for engineering and product audiences
Oversee documentation projects ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely delivery
Define documentation standards and processes that scale across thousands of engineers
Partner with engineering teams to understand needs and deliver solutions
Build AI-powered documentation tools for generation, maintenance, and search-with appropriate human oversight
Influence platform decisions across Apple Services Engineering, IS&T, and Software Engineering
Solve documentation discoverability-ensure engineers find current information, not outdated or hidden content
Establish lifecycle management processes for creation, maintenance, and retirement of content
Champion accessible, accurate information to engineering leaders
Your team's documentation directly impacts engineering productivity, onboarding success, and operational excellence across Apple Services Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience at large technology companies managing documentation at scale
Background in knowledge management systems or information architecture
Track record applying AI/LLM technologies to documentation-generation, search, maintenance, quality improvement

Experience engineering AI-powered solutions with human oversight
Familiarity with documentation tooling: static site generators, Git, Markdown, API docs
Success with platform migrations or system transformations

Can articulate documentation strategy and ROI to executives
Minimum Qualifications
8+ years in technical documentation or knowledge management
3+ years managing technical writing teams
Experience with documentation at enterprise scale (10,000+ engineers)
Strong technical background understanding complex software systems
Proven ability to influence stakeholders across organizations
Experience with docs-as-code workflows
Excellent communication skills

Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $188,200 and $325,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
