We are looking for a Senior Art Director (AD) to join our Marcom LA Design Team. In this role you will collaborate with a group of design creatives, brand managers, project managers, producers, as well as cross-functional and external partners. We work to create and craft identities for Apple's services. With a focus on developing distinctive campaigns that are unmistakably Apple, the Senior AD will steward the look of a handful of services.

Description

Craft innovative, inspiring identities and campaigns for Apple's services, products and events - as well as providing guidance for other creatives. The Senior AD provides cross functional communication and direction that can inspire others and win over stakeholders. They are adept at evaluating complex briefs and are comfortable presenting work at all levels. They have experience leading creative projects and are accomplished in developing a healthy and vibrant creative team atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Own the conceptual development and execution of campaigns that meet the strategic requirements outlined in the brief.
  • Contribute to all projects from planning and initial ideation, through final delivery of production.
  • Establish and optimize foundational identity systems for Apple Services that drive multiple campaigns through the year.
  • Provide direction and oversight to project teams, responding swiftly to new information, and adjusting strategically when needed.
  • Drive collaboration cross functionally - establishing relationships, rapport and credibility within the creative community, senior leadership and executive team.
  • Regularly review creative work with the project team and key partners.
  • Collaborate closely with vendors, illustrators, photographers, motion and graphic designers by providing art direction, guidance, and feedback.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 9+ years experience building brand identities and campaigns.
  • Bachelors degree in design or equivalent industry experience.
  • A portfolio exhibiting a thorough grasp of design principles, animation principles, art direction, typography and visual communication.
  • Industry experience as a lead designer and art director, overseeing the creative development process.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator).

  • BA/BFA degree in Graphic Design, Motion Graphics, or other related field.
  • Outstanding conceptual design and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong art direction sensibility and capability to define scalable design principles to achieve results.
  • Experience leading and directing creative projects, from early exploration to the delivery of a final identity or campaign.
  • Effective collaborator who possesses excellent interpersonal skills, capable of negotiating creative input from multiple functional groups, garnering trust and influence.
  • Dynamic communication style, capable of real-time creative problem-solving in conversation and conveying a strong point of view for design solutions.
  • Ability to cut through ambiguity and find the path forward, despite uncertainty or challenges.
  • In-depth knowledge of all steps required in the creative process, including staffing projects, providing communication and direction, and giving timely and useful feedback to improve creative solutions.
  • Experience with After Effects, Cinema 4D (or equivalent 3D tool)

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $173,500 and $260,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
