The Sensor Software and Prototyping team (SSP) at Apple is looking for an experienced cloud security lead with a passion for quality , protecting user privacy , and securing cloud based health platforms for health feature development in Apple's products. This team works with some of Apple's most advanced technologies including AR, machine learning (ML) and computer vision (CV), aimed at improving the lives of Apple's customers. We are looking for an ambitious teammate with a track record of managing a portfolio of vendor support for QA and security testing activities. This role will directly manage onstie and remote vendor support for auditing, pen testing, and ethical hacking to assess the security of SSP's cloud services and their compliance for managing health data. The best person for this role has a track record of shipping complex and secure new technologies at exabyte scale. An ideal candidate brings top level project coordination processes, budget management, and a depth in QA and security testing. You should thrive in a dynamic and constantly changing environment. You will support teams through the software development cycle from features ready for testing, to feature delivery in production. You will work with several teams at Apple and provide clarity and documentation to align our teams building software services to be inline with Apple's Information Security organization and Apple's Privacy teams. Description
Our team focuses on support cloud infrastructure services. Each year, we power dozens of features for our machine learning / computer vision teams. With the fast growth of data needs, collaboration with key partners is crucial (engineering teams, program office, leadership, finance), as are coordination and continuous improvement within our team. As a quality and security leader, your core role will be to manage vendor supported security and quality testing, audit, and compliance reviews. You will track and raise awareness for major platform release and security milestones across our emerging health platform, along with driving our main communications on the current state of our available software and tooling for use by our engineers. This role will own documentation in-line with the expectations from Apple's Information Security Team, and Apple's Privacy Team, fostering a collaborative relationship between these engineering groups, and helping every day to better protect our health data.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience.
- 5+ years of experience managing complex, cross-functional security or QA related technology projects.
- 5+ years of experience in managing a portfolio of vendor support in the security or QA space.
- 2+ years of direct management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- MS degree in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent training and experience.
- Excels in relationship building and has shown success in influencing without direct authority.
- A track record in finding creative ways to help teams understand processes, share information through documentation, and driving teams to execute on a collaborative plan.
- A solid understanding of software development processes/ tools and standard project management methodologies (eg Agile, waterfall).
- A technical background, with hands-on experience in software development and web technologies.
- Understands fundamentals of cloud computing.
- Ability to dive into technical details.
- Self-motivated, collaborative, curious, pro-active with demonstrated critical thinking capability and great attention to detail
- Possesses outstanding verbal and written communication skills, tailoring communication style and distilling relevant information for multiple audiences (engineers, managers, execs).
- Demonstrates excellent attention to detail and enjoys both detailed, hands-on work and has high-level of critical thinking.
- Knows how to clarify where there is ambiguity by developing plans, establishing priorities, anticipating risks and is not shy to raise concerns to team and leadership.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $166,600 and $296,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
