Research Tooling Engineer
The Security Engineering and Architecture (SEAR) organization at Apple is forming a new team and we're looking for smart motivated engineers to join us. Utilizing deep hardware and OS integration, this team will be focused on the practical application of Apple's cutting edge security research.
Description
Help Apple build advanced tools and features that help protect users from sophisticated threats. Design and implement new approaches to detect and analyze vulnerabilities, malware and exploits targeting Apple platforms. Come up with new and innovative approaches to protect vulnerable users while protecting their privacy and preserving device ease-of-use. Work cooperatively with other parts of Apple on large projects which bridge the gap between cutting edge security research and Apple's software engineering organization.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience/skills
- Understanding of past, current, and emerging security exploits.
- Excellent C and systems programming skills.
- Strong understanding of operating systems internals. Industry exposure to and knowledge of OS security features.
- Ability to deliver proven work on tight schedules. Working cross-functionally with other software, hardware, red teams, malware analysts and support teams to provide the best security solutions for Apple's products.
- Excellent collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Kernel and systems programming
- Hypervisor design and architecture
- Involvement in open source technologies and development communities such as FreeBSD and Linux
- iOS and macOS exposure (end user, administrator, developer)
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,100 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
