Apple Hardware Engineering is looking for a QA Software Development Team Lead to lead and mentor a team of QA engineers, specializing in automation testing and ensuring software quality across multiple custom products as we roll them into production. The successful candidate will drive the test strategy focusing on improving the engineering process, design and quality of next generation tools which will be used in Apple environment. With an eye for quality, the ideal candidate will have outstanding leadership skills and problem-solving abilities. They will be independently motivated, willing to develop a sustainable test environment to rollout tools and solutions to the best hardware engineering team on the planet.

Description

We are seeking an experienced QA leader to develop and implement quality assurance strategies that guarantee the delivery of high-quality software for our internal teams within our ECAD/MCAD workflows. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in QA methodologies, a proven track record of leading teams, and a deep understanding of where Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning ( AI/ML ) can be applied to enhance testing processes, improve efficiency, and drive innovation. This role requires strategic vision, technical expertise, and leadership to align QA initiatives with organizational goals. Major job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Define QA Strategies: Design and implement comprehensive QA strategies, including test planning, automation frameworks, and quality metrics Align QA processes with agile and DevOps to support continuous integration and delivery Leverage AI/ML in QA: Identify opportunities to integrate AI/ML into the QA process, such as automated test generation and harness buildout. Evaluate and implement AI-driven testing tools to optimize test coverage Collaborate with AI/ML teams to develop models for predicting quality metrics Leadership and Management Lead, mentor and grow a team of QA engineers, fostering a culture of quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Provide technical guidance on test automation, scripting and tool selection Manage resource allocation, workload distribution, performance evaluation and training needs Mange contractors and vendors Process Optimization and Innovation Drive adoption of modern QA practices, including shift-left testing Evaluate and implement emerging QA tools and technologies Continuously improve testing frameworks to reduce test cycle times and ensure quality Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement Partner with stakeholders at all levels to ensure quality is embedded throughout the software development cycle (SDLC) Communicate QA strategies, progress and outcomes to senior leadership and cross-functional teams Advocate for quality standards and best practices across the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years of technical work experience in Quality Assurance (QA) automation with at least 3 years leading a team.
  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies, tools and frameworks (e.g. TestCafe, Selenium, JUnit, UiPath or similar)
  • Proved experience in applying AI/ML in QA processes, such as test automation, predictive analytics or defect detection.
  • Experience with Python, JavaScript and HTML/CSS programming.
  • Strategic thinking and problem solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts and testing methodologies, Proficiency in AI/ML fundamentals.
  • Strong knowledge of testing techniques including, functional testing, regression testing, integration testing, performance testing, usability testing and API testing.
  • Experience with Automation Tools such as Selenium, UiPath, Appium, JMeter and TestRail, and Defect Tracking Systems like Jira or Bugzilla.
  • Knowledge of SDLC and Agile Methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
  • Experience leading a team including team building, mentoring, project planning and prioritization, performance evaluation and feedback, conflict resolution and stakeholder management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Flexibility and comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic and sometimes ambiguous environment.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making.

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $165,500 and $293,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
