Key Qualifications

  • Thorough understanding and experiences in imaging optical system design, modeling and performance quantification.
  • Proficiency in one or more optical modeling tools for imaging optics, e.g. Zemax, LightTools, etc.
  • Strong analytical model building and problem solving capability
  • Strong quantitative data analysis abilities, using JMP, Matlab, or equivalent tools.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently across a range of technical subject areas with a broad slate of partners, including management, peers, and suppliers.
  • Experiences in following fields is a plus: display module testing, AR/VR display, OCT, LIDAR, microscopy, wavefront metrology, and optical grating.

Description

You will be responsible for designing and developing industry leading optical metrology systems for calibrating and testing optical display modules, across multiple product lines (e.g. vision pro, phone, ...), in NPI (new product introduction) stage. Design and specify optical displays' metrology system and key components, e.g. lens, optical relays, image sensing module, photodetectors, light sources. Quantify optical metrology instruments' requirements, through analytics, numerical modeling, and bench-top testing. Lead optical instrument vendors for customization. Validate and qualify the instrument performance to meet mass production requirements. Define calibration & measurement Engineering Requirement Specification (ERS) for optical instruments and automated systems. Conduct effective FA (failure analysis) & CA (corrective action) for optical systems. Analyze large amounts of lab data and NPI data for validation, FA, and improvement purposes. Provide crisp and rigorous presentation and report, on subjects listed above. And communicate with a broad range of cross-functional teams. Require domestic and international travel for work (up to 20%)

Education & Experience

BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Biophysics, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.

    At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900.00 and $256,500.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
