Apple is looking for a creative and world class engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team exploring and delivering new display technologies for Apple's next generation products. We are looking to add experts in optics and computational display and/or imaging. A successful candidate will work with multi-functional team on investigating advanced display & optical module technologies, the optical module architecture, prototyping, and system integration. The team features a diverse engineering roster including optical engineers, display engineers, software developers, human perception experts, and product design engineers. A successful candidate needs to be a flexible thinker and be able to problem solve outside of their respective technical area. Join a unique display exploration team within Apple. Key Qualifications

  • Solid background in at least two of the following areas: Geometrical optics, Physical optics, Fourier optics; Imaging and image processing; Computational imaging/displays; Camera/3D displays calibration and/or 3D geometry; Displays optics and human perception; Optical modeling software (Zemax is preferred)
  • Proficient in at-least one of the Matlab/Python/Lua
  • Experience in calibration and metrology methodologies used in optics, computational displays and cameras.
  • Experience in mathematical modeling and statistical analysis

Description

- Scope emerging technologies and identify new optical module solution and optical characterization methods to further enhance image quality - Quantitatively and qualitatively assess benefits and trade-offs to user experience - Develop prototypes to demonstrate proposed solutions and conduct detailed analysis to quantitatively and qualitatively assess impacts and tradeoff on to user experience - Designing failure analysis experiments for technology integration - Effectively communicate the advantages, disadvantages and risks to the broader team

Education & Experience

BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience

Additional Requirements

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in consumer electronics
  • Experience managing domestic and international vendors
  • Prior experiences in prototyping new technologies

Pay & Benefits

    At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900.00 and $256,500.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

    Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
