Apple's Graphics, Games, and Machine Learning organization is looking for a highly motivated manager to drive the evolution our system-level services for Metal, the low-overhead API for accessing the powerful 3D graphics, compute, and ML capabilities of the GPUs found in Apple's products such as iPhone, iPad, AppleTV, Apple Vision Pro and Mac. These services include GPU driver work submission, scheduling, resource management, inter-process communication, and virtualization.
Description
The Metal Systems Framework manager is responsible for delivering the kernel mode frameworks and their driver-development kits (DDKs) that sit between the developer-facing Metal APIs and its drivers, that integrate with Apple's other driver frameworks such as IOKit and Virtualization. The manager works closely with the other Metal, driver, compiler, and core operating system partners to design, integrate, and optimize these services for all Apple products, as well as support new and emerging acceleration needs. You will also work closely with Metal ecosystems teams to make gaming, professional apps, and machine learning apps the best on Apple's platforms.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Extensive experience with GPU and display system interfaces, both at the hardware and software levels.
- Well versed in OS fundamentals such as memory management, scheduling, synchronization, system calls, IPC, etc.
- Detailed knowledge of a GPU hardware architecture, and its capabilities and performance characteristics.
- Track record of building collaborative working relationships across large organizations.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence up, down, and cross-functionally.
- Ability to motivate people, instill accountability, and achieve results.
- Excellent software design, problem solving, debugging, and performance analysis ability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Broad experience with complex driver models such as IOKit, WDM and WDDM.
- Knowledge of current and emerging rendering, ML, and compute techniques is an asset.
- Exposure to Metal, C/C++, Objective-C/C++, and Swift will be ideal.
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $219,300 and $378,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
