The ideal candidate shows initiative and can drive projects independently with inputs and guidance from multiple collaborators. A successful engineer needs to be comfortable with continually evolving priorities and is a thoughtful, nimble, and action oriented problem solver. Experience specifying and or developing custom automated equipment from design to sustained production use is necessary.

Description
In this role you will: - Specify the requirements for, and manage the development of automated and semi-automated assembly and processing equipment, tooling and processes in cooperation with external vendors and partners. - Develop, evaluate, and improve unit processes and manufacturing methods to enable battery cell designs to meet system design targets. - Plan, execute and analyze tests and experiments to evaluate processes and quantify properties and design parameters. - Evaluate and improve designs and processes using quality tools, design of experiments and statistical data analysis tools.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS degree.
- Experience in the design and development of automated manufacturing equipment or mechanical components.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Experience in technology development with a demonstrated record of innovation.
- Experience in working with external vendors and contractors to develop and qualify designs
- Working knowledge of robotics, control systems, vision systems and PLCs. Proven ability to integrate electronic sensors, motors, and motion control components.
- Experienced in applying statistical analysis and formal problem solving tools (SPC, GR&R, DOE, Fishbones, FMEA, RCA, FTA, etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills combined with the ability to clearly and accurately explain technical issues
- Experienced in battery, IC or consumer electronics product assembly and packaging development.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $136,300 and $248,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
