Description

We need a top-tier leader to manage a group of Product Managers in the five pillars of Product Decision Intelligence: Product Evaluation, Portfolio Evaluation, Machine Learning Decision Intelligence, Experimentation Decision Intelligence, and End-to-End Data Products. The ideal candidate will bring related industry and academic experience in each of the pillars, and will be able to nurture and grow a talented team in this space. This team guides product managers in building robust strategies to optimize the commerce platform. They help product managers clarify the core value proposition, understand the key output metrics, build a funnel of value, and take a fundamentals-driven approach to designing KPIs. They partner with data scientists to envision compelling data products that help sharpen our lens of value, in what may be termed "Decision-driven data making." They support Product in designing and running Decision Analytic AB tests. They place a Decision Analysis layer on top of Artificial Intelligence to help answer: which are the most valuable opportunities in AI? They write specs for new machine optimization features bringing in a strong decision analytic perspective. Our commerce platform facilitates billions of transactions by hundreds of millions of customers in the App Store, and across Apple's services, so you can add several 0s to the impact of your work! This role will require you to work closely with global and cross-functional teams such as Analytics, Engineering, Product Management, Product Marketing, Legal, Fraud, and Finance. Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a manager of specialists in the Data/ML/Decision Analysis space
  • Well versed in Decision Analysis (based on normative Decision Theory) and know how to build decision models incorporating both uncertainty and value
  • Experience with machine learning and easily able to explain a wide spectrum of machine learning and Gen AI techniques to a lay audience
  • Experience with performing and presenting business evaluations using Decision Analysis at executive levels
  • Have a teacher mindset to nurture and spread knowledge
  • Love analytical problems that require a sharp problem-solving mentality and the ability to think outside the box
  • Advanced Excel user with an eye toward making your models beautiful and easy to work with
  • Enjoy writing clear, punchy memos on complex analytical topics
  • Have a learn-and-grow mentality and want to be challenged in a nurturing and supportive environment
  • Have a long-term outlook toward creating impact with a strong emphasis in cross-functional collaboration
  • Masters or PhD in Decision Analysis, or equivalent work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Engineering R&D
  • Familiarity with the Apple ecosystem
  • Familiarity with Bayesian AB Testing
  • Familiarity with ML modeling and deployment
  • Experience teaching Decision Analysis concepts

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $164,200 and $285,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
