APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Research innovative algorithms or improvement of existing algorithms, implement them efficiently within a complex existing codebase, conduct simulations, perform rate-distortion-complexity analysis, and quickly iterate for further improvement. Play a key role in developing next-generation video coding and processing technologies. Work with a team of experts on machine learning based video processing and coding technologies, including super-resolution, denoising, video frame interpolation, video quality enhancement, intra/inter predictions, transforms, entropy coding, block partitioning, in-loop filtering, pre/post-processing, and machine learning-based coding tools. Draft patent applications. Make proposals to standard bodies. Daily duties include developing, training, and implementing machine learning models and integrating models in video coding and processing systems. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 - $264,200/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.
- Education and/or experience must include each of the following skills:
- Designing and developing novel video coding and processing algorithms using fundamental theories and practices of video coding and processing
- Software development for prototyping and integrating new modules into existing software in one of the following: C, C++, or Objective C
- Proposing and prototyping new video coding and processing modules using video coding standards: HEVC, H.264, AV1, or VVC
- Programming and debugging skills for writing code and fixing existing problems
- Designing and developing deep learning models using fundamental theories and practices of deep learning
- Developing deep learning models using deep learning frameworks including NumPy and pytorch
