Legal Counsel - Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

As a member of the Products & Regulatory Legal Group, you will work with Apple's engineering, operations, and marketing teams to help create and introduce Apple products to the world. Description
You will join a team of attorneys in the Products & Regulatory Legal Group to support engineering and business teams to enable artificial intelligence and machine learning. You will work closely with engineering and business teams to strategize on, draft and negotiate complex technology licenses and commercials agreements. You'll advise the business in the day-to-day work with third parties, and in the related development of artificial intelligence features. This work will require close collaboration with subject matter experts across legal teams on topics including privacy, data security, intellectual property, export compliance, and product counseling. The candidate must have experience managing a large docket of deals and be able to solve highly complex issues in creative and effective ways, while maintaining an acceptable level of legal risk in a fast-paced environment. You will also advise Apple management on risk allocation/mitigation, business strategies, and policies.
Minimum Qualifications
- 4+ years of legal experience at a technology company or a leading law firm
- 2+ years of experience drafting and negotiating complex agreements
- JD degree or equivalent and admission to at least one US state bar
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Apple business is preferred
- Experience with artificial intelligence, privacy, and intellectual property issues
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to advise and build relationships with executive management, teammates, and cross-functional partners
- Strong analytical skills and business sense with the ability to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
- Ability to develop and facilitate collaboration by cultivating relationships and effectively counseling and communicating with legal and cross-functional partners
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage a high volume or projects
- Self-starter who is curious, loves technology, and thrives in a dynamic environment
- Ability to handle your own high-volume workload on day-to-day matters
- Ability to see beyond the precise question asked to larger issues and implications
- Excellent communicator who is able to issue-spot and articulate complex and nuanced legal issues clearly and concisely to frontline business and engineering teams and senior executives alike

Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $200,700 and $301,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
