Description
APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Develop, execute, and document experimental procedures and study protocols for engineering testing and user studies focused on the fit and comfort of wearable devices. Execute studies using assorted data collection methods, such as optical motion capture, force and pressure measurement systems, photogrammetry, other proprietary measurement systems, surveys, interviews, and direct observation of user behavior. Work with the engineering team to design, develop, and validate proprietary biomechanical measurement systems. Responsible for pilot testing study procedures to ensure that the experimental protocol is effective and manageable on the part of the researcher and study participant and validate that methods meet the specifications required for insights. Process, synthesize, and analyze collected data for fit and comfort studies. Use prepared software tools and develop scripts and code for processing diverse data types. Prepare and present reports and presentations summarizing study findings for diverse audiences, including product design, engineering, and management. Develop and facilitate study data management processes for a user-studies team, including collaborating with teams across the company to build and maintain data management systems and tools to meet the needs of the team. Establish and communicate data management best practices for the team. Ensure data privacy and data security policies are followed by the team. Enable team members to be efficient and have secure access to their data, through training and the development of scripts and software tools shared with the team. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 - $214,500/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Biomedical Engineering or related field.
- Education and/or experience in the following:
- Using Vicon Nexus for collecting and processing motion capture data.
- Using data collection systems for collecting and processing force and pressure measurement data.
- Using Python, Matlab, or R to develop, test, and execute scripts to process, synthesize, and visualize motion capture and other biomechanical data.
- Using frequentist statistical methods for evaluating the significance of assorted biomechanical data.
- Use of software tools for manipulation, processing, and visualization of geometry and scan data, either using programmatic tools like Trimesh in Python.
- Using statistical modeling methods, such as principal component analysis of movement and scan data in Python, MATLAB or R to synthesize or summarize population data.
- Creating and using image analysis scripts for digital image correlation, as well as other quantitative image processing and photogrammetric methods.
- Using assorted data management systems both cloud-based (including Box and iCloud) as well as network area storage.
- Writing scripts and software in Python to automate data workflows and processing pipelines on systems.
- Using software tools (like Qualtrics) for development and distribution of surveys for collecting subjective feedback.
- Developing and using custom scripts for analysis of survey data in Python, Matlab, or R.
- Using Keynote for preparation of presentation materials to communicate research study results and findings.
