This small team of engineers design and productize Software Defined Radios and precision RF and Analog Test Equipment for use in testing, calibrating and researching of cellular, 5G, Satellite communications, WiFi, BT, mmWave, UWB and NFC radios in millions of iPhones, iPads, Macs and Apple Watches. All members of the team bring their own unique expertise to collectively take internal Apple products from concept to mass production. Each internal product is designed to Apple's exacting standards that maintains the quality, accuracy and function of commercially available offerings.
Description
As a Firmware Engineer, you will work on the next generation wireless communication products such as Satellite communication technologies. Our products are based on platforms that run embedded Linux, RTOS and/or bare metal firmware. You will work with other cross-functional team members such as RF system engineers, software engineers, DSP engineers, FPGA logic designers and hardware engineers to design and develop embedded software that is instrumental in creating products loved all over the globe.
Minimum Qualifications
- Passionate to learn and work in an agile environment.
- Experience designing embedded firmware in C++ and C.
- Recent development experience in one or more of the following areas: Linux, macOS, parallel processing, multi-core or multi-threaded software development.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor's degree is needed, and we highly value Master's or above. Relevant disciplines include Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, Physics and other Engineering domains.
- International travel of 10% is required.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing firmware for one or more of the following chip level interface standards is desirable: USB, SPI, I2C, UART, SDIO, PCIe.
- Ability to use lab equipment such as JTAG, Logic Analyzer, Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer etc...
- Experience in LTE or 5G Physical layer.
- Experience developing firmware for wireless communications standards.
- Experience with a scripting language like Python.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
