We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Finance Transformation Lead to spearhead and drive strategic initiatives aimed at modernizing and optimizing our finance controller functions, including expense management, annual budget planning, Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes, accounting and close activities, and headcount planning and approvals processes. This pivotal role will be instrumental in shaping the future state of our financial controller organizations and business partnering capabilities, leveraging technology, process re-engineering, and data analytics to enhance the efficiency and strategic impact of these critical areas. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of deep accounting and operational finance acumen, robust program/project management expertise, and a passion for innovation in transforming financial processes.

Description
The Finance Transformation Lead will be responsible for developing and articulating a clear vision and roadmap for transforming our operational finance functions, including expense management, annual budget planning, P2P implementation and management, accounting and close related activities, and headcount planning and review/approvals. This will ensure alignment with overall business objectives, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements. A key focus will be on identifying, analyzing, and redesigning processes related to expense management, annual budgeting, P2P workflows, and headcount planning to eliminate inefficiencies, strengthen internal controls, improve data accuracy, and enhance scalability through automation and process optimization. The Transformation Lead will also evaluate, recommend, and oversee the implementation of new financial technologies and tools to automate operational finance tasks, improve data quality for financial reporting and business insights, and enable advanced analytics within the control environment, with a strong emphasis on leveraging Gen AI capabilities for reconciliation, anomaly detection, and automated control monitoring in these areas. Strong stakeholder management is crucial, requiring close collaboration with finance leadership, IS&T, and various business functions to ensure successful project delivery and adoption of new processes and systems. Furthermore, the role entails developing and executing robust change management strategies, including communication plans, training programs, and user adoption initiatives, to ensure a smooth transition for accounting and operational finance teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting and operational finance roles, with significant proven experience in leading and executing finance transformation initiatives specifically within expense management, budgeting, P2P, financial close, and headcount planning functions.
- BS or BA in Business, Economics, or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience in managing, mentoring, and developing direct reports or project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and drive significant change in a complex organizational environment, particularly concerning the transformation of expense management policies, budgeting cycles, P2P workflows, and headcount approval processes.
- Strong business acumen coupled with a deep understanding of core accounting and operational finance processes (e.g., Record-to-Report (R2R), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Order-to-Cash (O2C), Financial Planning & Analysis, Treasury, internal controls) and how to optimize them through transformation to support business functions effectively.
- Proven experience with major ERP systems (e.g. SAP). Familiarity with automation technologies (RPA) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Past experience with Python / SQL from a business facing / finance role a plus.
- Strong communication and presentation skills; must be comfortable presenting to executives
- Proactive problem solver, encouraged to present problems and recommendations simultaneously
- Ability to work comfortably with incomplete information and deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Extremely curious; is not satisfied with easy or convenient answers; drives issues to root cause
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality around product launches, financial information and other critical initiatives
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,300 and $263,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
