Description

As a Senior BI Engineer on the Edge Services team, you will work with massive internet-scale data across numerous product and customer touch-points, undertaking in-depth quantitative analysis, and distilling data into actionable and intuitive visualizations to drive informed decision-making. A great fit for this role can communicate and collaborate across many different teams, has an agile approach to solving challenging problems quickly, and stresses the details. We're looking for an experienced data wrangler to use data to make global architecture and deployment decisions, improve Apple Services' performance, and reduce operational costs. The main goal is to create precise data models for our services and present actionable business recommendations based on those models. Working closely with domain experts is crucial to understand our systems' complexities. Effective communication skills are essential to explain and get support for data-driven business recommendations. We're looking for someone passionate about delivering impactful and results-oriented work by deeply analyzing large and complex datasets. Proficiency in Python data science tools is necessary, along with the ability to communicate findings in a clear and accessible way for cross-functional teams. While prior experience at our scale may not be required, experience with distributed applications or analyzing and modeling large datasets is highly valued.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong Python skills, including proficiency with data science tools such as SciPy stack (numpy, pandas, ipython, etc)
  • Strong data analysis and spreadsheet modeling skills
  • Experience with reporting and data visualization tools such as Grafana and Tableau
  • Experience working with both qualitative and quantitate data

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in data science, computer science, math or related field is preferred
  • Experience owning and driving process/business improvements tied to analytics
  • Presenting to business leaders and other stakeholders, distilling topics to business leaders
  • Mastery of SQL; PromQL experience is a plus

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
