Director, Planner Modeling Team - Siri

You will be responsible for defining the engineering roadmap and translating applied research into breakthrough capabilities and user experiences. Help redefine the Siri experience, as Director of the Planner Modeling team, you will lead Siri's ability to take meaningful actions on behalf of users and embed agentic reasoning at the core of the product. You'll work at the forefront of reasoning with large language models (LLMs) - simulation, evaluation, context engineering, data generation, and reinforcement learning. This role demands deep technical engagement paired with strong cross-functional leadership. You will develop and refine state of the art models, perform failure analyses, and translate applied research into breakthrough user experiences.
Description
Technical * Drive the team toward best-in-class model accuracy and capabilities * Build and refine benchmarking systems and integrate results into development cycles * Identify and analyze failure patterns; champion system-wide improvements * Incubate new technologies and accelerate innovation in agentic reasoning Operational * Lead and prioritize multiple teams to deliver on ambitious technical and product goals * Ensure clear, consistent communication across engineering and leadership partners * Grow and onboard talent, aligning resources with evolving priorities * Share progress and strategy in weekly reports and leadership forums

Minimum Qualifications
- Technical
- Proven expertise in language models, agentic systems, and evaluation methodologies
- Hands-on experience developing tools and workflows for model improvement
- Strong passion for prompt design, experimentation, and optimization
- Operational
- Successful track record managing technical teams on complex, large-scale products
- Exceptional ability to collaborate across disciplines to drive customer-focused outcomes
- Demonstrated skill in translating leadership vision into actionable execution
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $305,000 and $487,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
