Description
The DevOps Technical Release Manager is a key player to Apple's high-traffic website, www.apple.com. This role ensures smooth publishing operations-from major launches to routine updates-by coordinating project teams, developers, and content creators. Responsibilities include owning the full release lifecycle, implementing security standards, mitigating risks, and maintaining partner communication. The position demands expertise in frontend technologies, CMS platforms, Next.js, and familiarity with backend systems. It also involves optimizing workflows through automation and CI/CD pipeline implementation to improve release efficiency and contribute to the company's growth.
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience leading change in global environments with diagnosing/debugging complex systems
- Solid experience in release management for web applications, including working with CMS, SCM, frontend/backend tech (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), or web servers
- Experience collaborating with teams (e.g., DevOps, QA, Platform Engineering) to troubleshoot and resolve build, deployment, or operational issues
- Possesses outstanding problem-solving skills and experience with automating manual processes using CI/CD tools and practices in fast-paced environments
- BS/BA in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong experience managing large-scale releases, being responsible for complex release cycles with a focus on process optimization, risk management, and efficient execution, in handling high-impact, high-visibility projects
- Proficiency in Python, Bash, and Groovy scripting
- Leadership and mentorship abilities, with a demonstrated track record of guiding teams through challenging release cycles, mentoring team members, and encouraging an inclusive and productive work environment
- Experience and understanding of Agile processes, able to adapt release management strategies to an Agile development environment for quick and efficient delivery
- Expertise in risk management and mitigation, with the ability to proactively identify potential issues during the release cycle, develop effective solutions, and minimize impact on project timelines and quality
- Knowledge of cloud platforms and infrastructure, including technologies like AWS, to lead deployments and releases across various environments
- Experience in documentation and cross-training for release-related processes
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
