Data Center Technicians provides high levels of technical mentorship and support of Apple Data Center IT Infrastructure and functions as a key technical escalation path for site teams. The core Technician role includes performing the daily support of operational activities of hardware installation and hands-on technical support. Technicians as also expected to function in the planning and coordination of installation and removal of hardware assets, maintaining advanced awareness of conditions, circumstances, and scenarios which may impact Apple customers and business services, and raises observations of potential risks. Our Technicians must also be capable developing and coordinating the implementation of data center IT infrastructure projects, and actively guide and support training of other technicians by providing direct insights on specific job focus areas and workloads. Success in this role requires collaboration and communication skills, ability to plan and drive projects to completion, follow established operational and safety procedures, and maintain an awareness of Key Performance Indicators & Service Level Objectives. Technicians are expected to have a comprehensive understanding of cross-functional Data Center processes, provide status reports and update work notes, support partnerships with internal and external partners, and provide feedback on standard processes shared within and across teams. In this role you will need to follow site safety protocols, including consistent use of required PPE such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experienced in managing and troubleshooting MacOS and Linux systems using scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Python or other
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving hardware & software issues.
  • Experience writing technical and operational procedure documentation.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks in a data center environment, including working at heights, using hand tools, and operating in temperatures up to 105°F.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years experience directly supporting networked (e.g., switches, routers, access points) IT infrastructure in a fully functional production data center environment.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams, mentor peers, and contribute to effective task coordination and shared knowledge practices.
  • Able to work independently in a dynamic environment, adapt to shifting priorities, and meet installation and project deadlines with minimal oversight.
  • Proficient in using workflow, collaboration, and scheduling systems to manage operational tasks and communications.
  • Capability to evaluate operational data, identify trends, and develop solutions that improve performance or resolve systemic issues.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel domestically and internationally to support business needs and team engagement.
