The Camera Systems Engineering Group is responsible for the systems-level analysis, design, and development of new camera features and technologies for performance enhancement. The team is seeking an exceptional systems engineer with broad skills to lead research and development projects.

Key Qualifications

  • Broad knowledge of engineering concepts (device behavior, data analysis, and systems modeling)
  • Expertise in system level modeling/simulation, data analysis, and image/signal processing in Matlab and/or Python
  • Expertise in digital camera and optics technology
  • Expertise in designing/performing laboratory experiments for camera testing
  • Expertise in software/hardware automation
  • Experience with big data analysis and visualization
  • Experience with collaborative software development and regression testing (e.g. git, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Familiarity with defining/documenting system level requirements and defining/executing system and subsystem level tests/analysis to validate overall system performance
  • Familiarity with image signal processing pipelines
  • Familiarity with firmware and FPGA development
  • Familiarity with CMOS image sensors technology
  • Familiarity with analog and digital electronics
  • Great interpersonal skills - the ability to collaborate across groups
  • Self-motivated, able to lead projects independently

Description

Duties include performing the systems-level analysis and modeling of imaging and sensing systems and the definition/execution/automation of system level tests for parametric specifications and end-to-end performance. Candidates should be highly skilled in several of these areas: Performing systems-level analysis and modeling of imaging systems using Matlab and/or Python Defining and documenting systems architecture, requirements, use case analysis, and tests for camera features and technologies Compiling and analyzing data from multiple sources to gain insight into user behavior Defining subsystem and system level tests to characterize and/or guarantee parametric specifications and system level performance Designing and performing laboratory experiments and documenting the results Developing, maintaining, and documenting software and workflows to automate repetitive measurements (Python, Matlab, shell scripting, C/C++, etc.) Creating subsystem specifications by analyzing/modeling/characterizing electrical, optical, and optoelectronic components Managing project deliverables and schedules to meet commitments to product development teams Discovering and tracking external technology development by suppliers, competitors, and academicians

Education & Experience

BS/MS/PhD in a relevant field (EE, ME, CS, or Physics) or equivalent

Pay & Benefits

    At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900.00 and $256,500.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

    Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
