The seamless integration of software and hardware has led to features like Live Photos, Portrait Photos, Cinematic Video, ProRes video recording, Night Mode Portrait, and many others which deliver magical experiences that surprise and delight our customers! The Camera API Test Team in the Camera Foundation organization is responsible for the development and maintenance of critical tests and infrastructure that allows the Camera team to deliver new features and APIs with exceptionally high quality. The Camera Foundation organization is at the heart of the camera capture stack, and provides the camera APIs and underlying real-time multithreaded media pipeline powering clients like iOS's built-in Camera application, thousands of third-party applications, and even AR-based experiences. As an engineer working on the Camera API testing team, you'll dive into the details of unreleased camera features and participate in their development on new hardware models. You'll develop automated tests for the Camera & AVFoundation APIs which are used by thousands of third-party applications. You will also be developing the Camera Software stack, working side-by-side with the world-class engineers that built iPhone's camera to what it is today, and build new great camera capabilities spanning the universe of Apple devices. Description

You possess a solid grasp of software development principles with C, C++ or Objective-C. You possess knowledge of test automation techniques and scripting languages. You have expertise in developing test plans, test cases and test scripts. You are effective at triaging and debugging regressions found by tests and use a data-driven approach to analyze quality trends and risk areas. You thrive in a collaborative environment and can communicate clearly while confidently driving multiple projects across many teams. You are curious and inquisitive, and seek to solve everyday problems in innovative ways. You are passionate about software quality and focus on details that are meaningful to our customer. If you consider yourself an engaging and highly-collaborative engineer with excellent communication skills, and are comfortable in a dynamic environment, we feel we have a rewarding opportunity for you. We need a strong software engineer to implement and extend the testing framework powering the quality of our devices. Experience in writing native application code for iOS in ObjectiveC and/or Swift is a plus. Experience with a scripting language such as Python is a plus. Knowledge of Camera concepts or experience with Photography is also highly desirable.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with test automation techniques and scripting languages.
  • Experience developing unit tests and test plans for complex features.
  • Understands the challenges of API design and maintenance.
  • Proficient in Objective-C, C, and/or C++.
  • MS/BS degree in CS/EE or equivalent experience.

  • Thrives in a collaborative environment, and can communicate clearly while confidently participating in multiple projects across different teams.
  • Passionate and inquisitive, and seeks to solve everyday problems in innovative ways.

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $121,900 and $214,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
