In this role you will apply your skills as an automation system engineer for battery automation system development, enhancement and sustaining. You will be part of a multi-functional team to develop new class of battery handling automation systems from scratch to finalization. This role will bring significant amount of impact for Apple battery testing labs' throughput and productivity improvements.

Description

- Collaborate with automation tool vendors to ensure design compatibility and integration success. - Facilitate onsite tool qualification efforts through collaborating with lab supervisors, metrology tool engineers and facility team to ensure delivery of equipment on time. - Closely collaborate with multiple cross functional teams including testing labs, metrology equipment development team, data system team etc. for all tool related tasks tracking and executions. - Troubleshoot and sustain battery handling automation tools across multiple locations in Cupertino area to ensure minimum amount of downtime. - Work closely with EHS department to ensure battery handling safety of automation equipment. Validate design elements and identify potential risks in tool design process. - Design fixtures and tool parts by utilizing CAD software including NX or Solidworks.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience in mechanical and electronics equipment maintenance and troubleshooting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands on experience with robotic systems including robot teaching and programming is strongly preferred. Experience with Epson or Mitsubishi robots is a plus.
  • Experience with fixture design.
  • Proven track records with mechanical/electrical system design, validation, troubleshooting and testing.
  • Familiar with CAD software Solidworks or NX.
  • Experience with consumer electronic products assembling equipment is preferred.
  • Deep knowledge on integration between machine vision and robotic system is preferred.
  • Experience with machine vision system including Cognex or Keyence systems is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge on automation equipment design process flows including mechanical, electrical and software systems integrations.

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $136,300 and $248,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
