Description

APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Design, implement and successfully scale automated and semi-automated solutions to enable final assembly of products. Develop new and or improved processes through the application of theoretical and practical engineering. Design precision assembly and measurement processes. Keep abreast of all meaningful technical trends and developments and incorporate them in appropriate assignments. Perform research and development on new technologies necessary to tackle complex assembly and automation problems that have direct impact to the quality and delivery of products. Organize cross-functional review of machine requirements, design, qualification and capability. Create Request for Quotation/Proposal (RFQ/RFPs) that document the design requirements of the automated equipment, delivery schedule, required documentation and qualification for acceptance at machine supplier facility and contract manufacturer's factory. Engage machine suppliers for automated equipment design reviews and proposals. Drive machine qualification including correlation, process capability (CP / CPK) and Gage Repeatability / Reproducibility (GR&R). Drive failure analysis and machine issue resolution when working with machine suppliers and contract manufacturers. Run equipment experiments to bound the capability of the machine. Responsible for data analysis reports to communicate machine capability to the multi-functional teams. Travel to the machine supplier and contract manufacturer for equipment bring-up, qualification, acceptance testing and support during build events. International Travel Required 30%. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $151,200 - $227,600/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
  • 2 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:
  • Creating Request for Quotation/Proposal (RFQ/RFPs) that document design requirements.
  • Using machine qualification data including calibration, correlation, capability, repeatability to enable automated equipment.
  • Using experience in new product introduction and Manufacturing Operations to develop automated equipment and products able to be assembled automatically.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T principles for automated equipment design.
  • Using NX, SolidWorks CAD or ProE to design Automated Equipment.
  • Using Knowledge of optics principles as they relate to CCD cameras, 2D and 1D lasers, and their use or positioning and critical alignment machines to build new products.
  • Applying knowledge of robotics (6-axis and/or SCARA), pneumatics, servo motors, motion controllers, PLC and PC-based control systems to build new products.
