We are seeking a talented and experienced Staff Brand Storyteller (Copy and Script Writing) to join our Creative Studio. Reporting directly to the VP of Brand, this role is responsible for crafting compelling brand narratives, campaign taglines, and ad copy while also flexing their scriptwriting muscle. This includes writing for company-owned stage events and ensuring alignment with our strategic messaging and executive voices.

Your impact
- Creative Copywriting
- Develop engaging, concise, and on-brand copy for marketing campaigns, advertisements, social media, and digital platforms.
- Craft compelling content that aligns with the AppFolio brand voice and tone, resonates with target audiences, and drives engagement and conversion.
- Act as a creative storyteller, collaborating with Marketing, Product Marketing, and the Creative Studio to engage diverse audiences and create cohesive, impactful messaging.
- Script Writing & Development
- Work cross-functionally with Brand, Communications, Marketing, Product Marketing, Events, and Executive teams to lead the scripting process for major company events (choreographed with multiple speakers), including our annual industry conference and all-company kickoff.
- Write, develop, and work closely with executives and speakers to capture their unique voices, ensuring scripts align with strategic priorities and resonate with the intended audience while maintaining language consistency.
- Oversee the end-to-end development of scripts from initial concepting to final delivery, ensuring efficient and repeatable processes and soliciting and synthesizing input along the way.
- Establish frameworks, templates, and repeatable processes to improve the efficiency of scriptwriting and copy development across teams.
- Strategic Messaging
- Shape key narratives for public speaking engagements, executive presentations, and thought leadership.
- Demonstrate curiosity and the mental capacity to understand strategic intent and refine messaging for maximum impact.
- Navigate nuances, framing sensitive topics appropriately to resonate with audiences while avoiding missteps.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in creative copywriting and brand storytelling.
- 5+ years of experience writing executive speeches, scriptwriting for live events, executive presentations, or corporate communications.
- Proven ability to craft high-impact ad copy, campaign messaging, and executive scripts that engage and inspire.
- Superior ability to cultivate trusted relationships with executive leaders, understanding how to tailor content to different voices and audiences.
- Strong strategic and critical reasoning skills, able to challenge and refine content to enhance impact.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a keen sense of audience engagement.
- Familiarity with vertical industries or corporate brand environments is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring all deliverables meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Skilled in collaboration tools and effective meeting management to facilitate smooth workflows and efficient decision-making.

Location
Compensation & Benefits
The compensation that we reasonably expect to pay for this role is: $104,000 - $130,000 [base pay]. The actual compensation for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, education, experience, and internal equity.
Please note that compensation is just one aspect of a comprehensive Total Rewards package. The compensation range listed here does not include additional benefits or any discretionary bonuses you may be eligible for based on your role and/or employment type.
