Who Are We Looking For?
A Sr Payments Product Data Scientist to support the Payments Product Team through various data analyses, utilizing SQL, Python/R to discover product improvement opportunities while conducting experimentation across our Payments product. Additionally, a strong communicator with a keen eye for detail and proven experience working cross-functionally for product leadership to drive critical decisions.

Your Impact
  • Perform exploratory analyses to uncover growth opportunities for our Payments product
    • Become a subject matter expert on AppFolio’s Payments business, Product Data, and user behavior trends
    • Partner closely with Product Dev Teams to answer business-critical questions and drive our product pipeline through KPI and funnel creation
    • Discover actionable insights for product optimization through user activation and retention journey and classification analyses to accelerate product growth
    • Develop data-driven hypotheses for high ROI investments in our Payments offering
    • Create DBT models that combine data from multiple sources where necessary, to enable analyses, modeling and experiments
  • Be a strategic partner for Payments product experimentation (A/B testing, feature rollouts, price changes)
    • Advise on best experimental framework and strategy to empower development decisioning
    • Execute on experiments in coordination with Prod Dev teams, advising on success metrics, organization of data structures and information, output table structure, iterative adjustments on test-design and execution.
    • Present clear, accurate, and actionable deliverables to secure stakeholder approval or incorporation into financial models
    • Inform cross-functional teams of experiment results and advocate for integration into financial planning models
  • Present and operationalize outcomes to stakeholders through various methods including presentations, tracking, and data products 
    • Share back analysis results to technical and non-technical stakeholders, in a clear and accurate way to support data driven drive decision-making
    • Create easy to understand assets, including presentations, dashboards and readouts to walkthrough data analyses and explain analysis insights
    • Create complex and insightful Data Products to help support actionable business outcomes based on data analysis results made accessible in self-serve tools or dashboards
    • Continually update and optimize the product dashboard suite to be best-in-class and enabling Payments leaders to make crucial organizational decisions

Qualifications
  • Business acumen – understands key challenges facing our business and partners with key stakeholders to find creative ways to apply data science to solve them; connects dots between data & business outcomes
  • Data Science skills – able to identify, measure, model, and impact the important metrics needed to deeply understand and grow the Payments business lines.  Additionally, able to build self serve tools, launch exploratory analyses, leveraging statistical models and run A/B tests.
  • Attention to detail – appropriately checks all work for errors and does not let important details slip when it comes to data and its accuracy.
  • Creative problem solving - able to use creativity and curiosity as tools to pick apart any problem, producing a solution which is relevant and realistic.
  • Efficiency – able to quickly iterate on data generation and refinement. Looks for ways to improve processes to maximize efficiency and remove redundancy.
Must-Haves
  • BS or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed
  • 5+ years of work experience in a Data Science & Analytics team
  • Strong business acumen and experience in a business setting
  • Strong Tableau,  statistical software (e.g. Python, R) and relational database languages (e.g., SQL - Snowflake preferred).
  • 5+ years Product Analytics and user behavioral data expertise.
  • Ability to support, work and communicate with a fast, cross-functional team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Listening and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate ideas in both technical and business terms
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment 
Compensation & Benefits
The base salary/hourly wage that we reasonably expect to pay for this role is: $123,000-185,000
The actual base salary/hourly wage for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: the candidate’s skills, education, experience, etc. 
Please note that base pay is one important aspect of a compelling Total Rewards package. The base pay range indicated here does not include any additional benefits or bonuses/commissions that you may be eligible for based on your role and/or employment type.
