We are seeking an exceptional Compliance Specialist to join our dynamic Compliance team. In this role, you will support AppFolio’s Compliance & Ethics program with an emphasis on Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM), while also contributing to broader compliance initiatives across our diverse product and service offerings. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to help meet regulatory obligations, develop and implement key policies, and foster a strong culture of compliance throughout the organization.

Your Impact
- Play a key role in Compliance & Ethics (C&E) initiatives, with a primary focus on supporting the TPRM program.
- Help maintain vendor compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and internal standards.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of TPRM-related policies, processes, and controls.
- Maintain a centralized repository of third-party risk information and documentation.
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and amending company-wide and team-specific policies and procedures.
- Develop and deliver company-wide and risk-based targeted training sessions on compliance topics.
- Conduct audits and assessments to evaluate adherence to regulatory requirements and corporate policies.
- Compile reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders for record-keeping.
- Collaborate with business units to understand AppFolio’s products and services and associated compliance obligations within the TPRM framework.
- Communicate complex compliance concepts in a clear and actionable manner to internal teams.
- Identify opportunities for program improvements and assist in the implementation of compliance initiatives.
- Experience with stakeholder buy-in, influence, and being a change agent.
- Building and scaling a program.
Qualifications:

Must Haves
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of legal and/or compliance or TPRM-related background experience
- Experience with drafting complex legal documents, policies and/or corporate communications; excellent writing skills.
- Proven success or enthusiasm to operate in ambiguous environments.
- Demonstrated capacity for critical thinking, research, and analysis.
- Experience driving stakeholder alignment and promoting a culture of security.
Nice to Have
- Experience with third-party risk management frameworks, tools, and best practices.
- Experience successfully managing and delivering large-scale programs/projects
- Experience with TPRM technology solutions and tools.
Compensation & Benefits
The compensation that we reasonably expect to pay for this role is: $77,600 - $97,000 base pay. The actual compensation for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, education, experience, and internal equity.
Please note that compensation is just one aspect of a comprehensive Total Rewards package. The compensation range listed here does not include additional benefits or any discretionary bonuses you may be eligible for based on your role and/or employment type.
