Lead AI Developer

Job Summary:

As a Lead AI Developer, you will have the opportunity to make a direct, meaningful impact on Aparavi’s hyper growth phase. You will be a player/coach for a small team of 2-5 developers and lead projects, provide technical guidance, and deliver AI-driven features and capabilities to our products and tech stack that enable industry-leading leverage of corporate unstructured data. This is a hands-on coding leadership role – you will spend at least 50% of your time designing, writing, and testing code. This is an at minimum 3 days in-office position in our San Francisco office.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Lead your team (by example) to deliver value rapidly, consistently and with high quality.
• Partner with cross-functional teams of engineers and product managers to deliver AI-powered capabilities and products that enable our users to know more and do more with their corporate unstructured data.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including advanced RAG, large language models, comprehensive data pipelines, similarity search, model context protocols, etc.
• Leverage the breadth of open source and proprietary AI tools and solutions such as Huggingface, Vector and Graph DBs, Langchain, Pytorch, etc.
• Build and deploy multi-modal AI solutions for search and retrieval, design and query knowledge graphs to map entity relationships across unstructured data and use advanced prompt engineering techniques to reduce hallucinations and improve generation control.
• Build your expertise in the Aparavi tech stack, use cases, USP and customers.
• Contribute to the technical vision and roadmap of our AI strategy.

Qualifications & Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science with a focus on generative AI and/or machine learning.
• 6 years of experience developing distributed backend systems and services at scale.
• Extensive experience working with large language models, generative AI applications, agentic AI, etc.
• A clear focus and understanding of the challenges with and approaches to unstructured data.

Preferred Skills:

• Demonstrable experience coding with languages like Python, C++.
• Familiarity with fine-tuning base models for domain-specific performance.
• Proven experience with benchmarking protocols for contextual relevance and generative fidelity.
• Extensive use of emerging AI methods and tools that increase productivity.
• Passion for staying on top of the latest technical and business developments in AI.
• Practical knowledge of operating systems and common networking protocols.
• Embodies end-to-end product ownership and a growth mindset.
