Job Description
The Director, SEC Reporting, will lead the development of external financial reporting, accounting, audit committee materials and other project responsibilities for The Allstate Corporation, a Fortune 100 SEC registrant. This team is responsible for the financial reporting for The Allstate Corporation and subsidiaries. This includes completing all SEC filings and preparation of audited US GAAP basis financial statements for various subsidiary companies.

In this highly visible and dynamic role, you will serve as a change champion, improving process efficiencies and business practices. Lead and coach a team of high performing, accounting and reporting professionals responsible for enterprise financial statements. You will thrive on change and continuous improvement while demonstrating and fostering a sense of urgency, collaboration and accountability.
- Prepare SEC filings including MD&A, financial statements and footnotes. Work with Corporate Accounting Research, accounting, legal and business unit finance areas to complete required disclosures and draft new disclosures
- Develop presentations for communicating reporting results to Senior Leadership and the Audit Committee while communicating information effectively across the organization.
- Manage processes that support the certifications required for SEC filings and independent auditor representation letters as well as processes that support accurate, timely and comprehensive financial reporting
- Lead project teams to develop disclosures for new accounting developments and transactions
- Collaborate with business units and other areas of the company to understand and develop disclosures that explain our business results to external stakeholders
- Work on securities offerings and other capital market transactions
- Monitor and evaluate the control environment for compliance with SEC Sarbanes Oxley (Sox) and NAIC Sox
- Stay aware of and implement best-in-class reporting technologies to support the business and reporting processes
- Participate and support independent auditors in GAAP statutory audits and reviews
- Support regulator inquiries and information requests, including responses to any SEC comments on filings
- Hire, train and retain strong accounting staff and develop an integrated accounting organization
Functional Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of SEC Reporting, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), statutory accounting principles (Preferred), internal controls and financial reporting
- Strong communication and leadership skills, including developing and leading high performing teams
- Create partnerships across departmental functions providing collaboration, exceptional customer service and drive innovation to create an atmosphere that supports new ideas and initiatives
- Strive for effective communication that results in teamwork, shared knowledge, and ideas
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This job requires demonstrated leadership capabilities and requires a leader that can identify best-practices and bring large teams together to operate effectively
Education and Experience
- CPA (Required)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Public Accounting experience - 5 to 10 years Big 4 experience with Insurance or Financial Services clients
- Insurance industry accounting and reporting experience in property and casualty insurance and reinsurance (Preferred)

Compensation
Compensation offered for this role is $158,000.00 - 212,750.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
