HII-TSD is currently seeking a Software Engineer with experience as a Full Stack Developer for a position in Springfield, VA. The Software Engineer would be a member of a team of "big data" specialists who build capabilities that directly support intelligence personnel who sole purpose is support to operations.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Work with Systems Engineers to ensure that data is effectively received, processed, and postured.
  • Work with Data Scientists to ensure that data quality and confidence meet standards sufficient for effective data utilization.
  • Work with intelligence professionals to build and deliver a premier suite of analytics capabilities

Minimum Qualifications
  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in two or more of the following programming languages: C#, Java, .NET, Python, Perl, Ruby, or similar
  • Familiarity with operating systems including: UNIX, Linux, Windows, etc.
  • Machine learning, data mining, and knowledge discovery
  • Analytic algorithm design and implementation
  • ETL processes; including document parsing techniques
  • Using or designing RESTful APls, SOAP, XML
  • Developing large cloud software projects, preferably in Java, Python, or C++
  • Java/J2EE, multithreaded and concurrency systems
  • Multi-threaded, big data, distributive cloud architectures and frameworks including Hadoop, MapReduce, Cloudera, Hive, Spark, Elasticsearch, etc. for the purposes of conducting analytic algorithm design and implementation
  • NoSQL database such as Neo4J, Titan, Mongo, Cassandra, and hBase
  • AWS Services (EC2, Network, ELB, S3/EBS, etc.)
  • Experience with or desire to be part of a team involved with processing and managing large data sets (multi-TB scale strongly desired, multi-PB scale is a huge bonus)
  • Web services environment and technologies such as JSON, XML, KML, and SOAP
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting in very complex distributed environments including following stack traces back to code and identifying a root cause
  • Data transfer systems such NiFi
  • Current Agile methods
  • Management/tracking utilities such as GitLab/GitHub, Jira, Redmine, or similar
  • Clearance: Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI

  • Certification(s)
    • COMPTIA Security+ certification or CISSP
    • Distributed computing
    • Agile and/or Scrum


  • Running internet facing or Service Level Agreement (SLA'd) auto-deployed environments
  • Real-time media protocols (Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP), Secure Real-time Transport Protocol (SRTP))
  • Text processing: NPL, NER, entity retrieval (e.g. Solr/Lucene), topic extraction, summarization, clustering, etc.
  • Having previously provided direct support to:
  • Special Operations Forces or comparable operational element.
  • Intelligence professionals.
