The Chief Business Officer organization plays a pivotal role in driving the company’s growth and expansion efforts worldwide. Our teammates work on commercializing Airbnb’s new and existing businesses, helping Airbnb expand beyond its core offering as a place to stay. This includes recruiting and developing Airbnb’s global supply of high-quality stays, Experiences, and Services, and executing Airbnb’s global strategy in the market. With a focus on business strategy, quality supply and international expansion, the team is leading the way for Airbnb’s continued growth and success in its next chapter.

The Global Markets team, which sits within this organization, ensures that Airbnb is locally relevant and serves the needs of our global hosts and guests, helping regions more efficiently plan and execute growth strategies across supply, demand, and other surfaces in a way that will resonate with our communities.

The Difference You Will Make:

In this role, you will report directly to the Global Director, Programs and Business Operations  and work closely with APAC Country Managers and APAC regional leadership team by managing business operations and strategy for Asia. You will lead ongoing business performance holistically, and align the functions operating in your country behind common objectives and work with other teams in the organization on cross border projects. Your attention to detail, organization, ability to multitask, work on multiple priorities and work under pressure will all ensure you succeed.

This role will need to have a great understanding of the airbnb community and be able to define levers to help them succeed in the platform. You will develop strong relationships and deliver valuable guidance to help them grow within the Airbnb marketplace.

 

A Typical Day:

  • High-Impact Prioritization & Operations: Shape, influence, and execute business priorities with a key focus on events and partnerships by building alignment across senior stakeholders, ensuring that initiatives ladder up to both regional and global goals.
  • Integrated Insights: Synthesize data, trends, guest and host insights, and analysis into actionable recommendations to develop new growth levers for the Asia business.
    • Work with FP&A to assess business performance and deep dive into areas of strength and weakness
    • OKR management and understanding of roadblocks and status updating for the Asia business
  • Operational riguor and leadership: Define the operating system strategy for a large, distributed organization, ensuring alignment with Airbnb-wide initiatives and Asia business. 
    • Drive weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual business operation meetings across the Asia business.
    • Conduct deep dives into operational, programs or functional topics as needed.
    • Work with functional leads to set strategy and execute operations.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely within Global Markets team members and different business lines within the Chief Business Officer team. Drive accountability and progress across cross-functional teams through partnership, fostering clarity, ownership, and alignment around key goals.
  • Executive Support & Representation: Prepare executive-level materials and deliver key presentations to senior leadership. Represent the team in high-impact forums and act as a trusted proxy for senior leaders when appropriate.
  • Growth Enablement: Identify and incorporate high-impact initiatives into team roadmaps, ensuring effective collaboration across other functions. Incubate and drive special projects for the region.

 

Your Expertise:

  • 15+ years experience in consulting position, or project management in the hospitality or online Travel Agency (OTA) industry is preferred
  • Deep familiarity with the business, economic and cultural environments across the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in a matrix environment 
  • Ability to take initiative and deal with ambiguity and uncertainty 
  • Strong appetite for working with the Airbnb community
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task with excellent organizational skills
  • Pays attention to both details and macro-level outcomes
  • Seasoned internal and external communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic and ever changing startup environment
  • Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty and ambiguity.
  • Data driven, can do attitude, strategic thinker and passion for new products and solutions
  • Data fluency and familiarity with SQL
